Welcome to the Communicating and Expanding Research on Adversity (CERA) Network.

We aim to improve science communication about people who experience adversity.

We aim to improve science communication about people who experience social, economic, and other forms of adversity. Our goal is to adopt a humanizing approach that recognizes and highlights the unique knowledge, strategies, and skills of people who are systematically disadvantaged in our societies.

About

People who belong to systematically disadvantaged groups are often cast in a negative light. In science, media, and policy, we commonly see phrases like impaired cognition and flawed decisions. We aim to provide a balanced view that recognizes the unique knowledge, strategies, and skills of people who experience adversity in our societies.

Members

We are a group of mainly early-career scientists across the world, who come from diverse backgrounds and hold unique identities.

Products

We aim to transform the discourse about people facing adversity by producing academic and other science communication products.

Contact

We aspire for synergy with anyone who shares our mission, including journalists, policy makers, and other stakeholders.
